To cultivate a deeper sense of belonging and inclusivity within the HKUST community, the Global Engagement & Communications Office (GECO) is excited to announce a call for submissions of hoodie and accessory designs from our talented university members. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your artistic creativity and unique vision. Finalist designs will be presented in a "Catwalk" show in mid-April for the final round of assessment and voting. Eventually, the winning designs will be produced as official items for sale at the HKUST Souvenir Shop.

Eligibility

Group A: HKUST students (full-time or part-time)
Group B: HKUST faculty & staff

Open to both individuals & teams (max. 4 participants per team); each participant can only enter the competition once.

What to Submit?

Each design entry should include the design of a hoodie, along with one item of accessory of your choice (cap, t-shirt or tote bag).  For more details, please refer to “Design Guidelines & Submission”.

Assessment

Entries will be assessed by a judging panel consisting of members of HKUST senior administration, staff of Global Engagement & Communications Office, an alumni representative, and other selected members of HKUST. The judging criteria of the design will be based on its connection with HKUST, visual appeal, creativity and feasibility. For details, please refer to “Assessment Criteria” under “Design Guidelines & Submission”.

Timeline

The judging panel will select the top 3 designs from each of Group A (Students) & Group B (Faculty & Staff). A prototype of these 6 finalists’ designs will then be produced with the support from the University’s Souvenir Shop. To make the production possible, the finalists will be invited to production meetings to fine-tune the design.

The designers will then have their works displayed in a showcase between April 8 – 12, and allow members of HKUST including students, faculty, staff and alumni to vote for their favorites. On top of that, a “catwalk” show will be hosted on April 12 which includes a 1-minute pitch and a runway performance arranged by the designers. During the “catwalk” show, the judging panel will deliberate and rate each finalist. Award winners of the competition shall be announced at the end of the event. The winning designs from both Group A & B will be produced as official items for sale at the University’s Souvenir Shop. Please refer to the timeline below:
